The Yankees’ worst seasonal attendance, according to the team’s official website, came in 1906. In their fourth year of existence, the Yanks only brought 35,500 fans to the ballpark, which is a shame because they finished the season at a very respectable 90–61.
The Yankees were once known as the Highlanders: From 1903-1913 the team which would later become known as the New York Yankees, were known as the Highlanders.

The New York Yankees don’t have their names on their jerseys as the Yankees owners wanted to stick with tradition and to forgo having players’ names on their jerseys. As historically baseball players never had their names on the back of their jerseys. In fact, it wasn’t until the early 20th century that some sports teams started placing player names on the back of their uniforms, in order to make them easier to identify. To this day the Yankees’ don’t have names on their home or away strips.
